Scouting Report: Beck was a part of a tandem of All-Americans for Georgia Southern, but all the attention is on the ace now that Victor Roache is out for the year with a wrist injury. The right-hander rose to stardom with an impressive sophomore season that culminated in Beck winning the Southern Conference Tournament Most Outstanding Player award. He followed it up with an All-Star caliber summer in the Cape Cod League. Beck flashes three above-average pitches, including a fastball that sits at 92-94 MPH range and an improving change-up. MLB.com put Beck at #8 on their Draft Prospect list before the season ahead of top prospects like Roache and Byron Buxton. However, Beck hasn't quite lived up to the expectations in his first few starts and there are questions about whether he has the stuff and mentality to be a frontline starter. It's still early but Beck will have to step it up to remain a Top 10 consideration, especially without Roache in the lineup.
